Dr. Shashikala Ravi has established the Amritanjali School of Bharatanatyam in Pune. It is one of the foremost schools of Bharatanatyam in Pune. All the classes are held in the Amritanjali Dance Studio at Viman Nagar. Her students are trained in the art while maintaining its pristine purity. Constant effort is made to make the teaching as effective and interesting as possible without compromising on the traditional aspects of style.
Bharatanatyam being a performing art, students at Amritanjali are given ample opportunities to perform on the stage. Performing on the stage develops self-confidence and aids overall personality growth of the students. It is her constant endeavor to ensure this as a part of her training to the students. Regular programs and performances are organised for the students in the form of festivals where the students themselves take part as well as witness performances by other dancers and connosiers of the art form. Amritanjali School of Bharatanatyam regularly organises the Amritanjali Festival of Classical Dance, Amritanjali Nrityotsava and An Evening of Bharatanatyam in order to promote and preserve our rich culture.
The students are also encouraged to take exams conducted by recognized boards. They are trained in theory of dance as well. Willing students are also trained for Arangetram or the first debut performance on stage. Amritanjali hopes to carry forward this sublime art to as many youngsters of today as possible.
